Dexter Parsonage Museum

Best known as the home of Dr Martin Luther King, and his family, from 1954 to 1960, this site was known as the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church from 1920 until 1992. Then, in 1982, the house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places , ensuring its preservation for generations to come. Today, operating as a museum, the Dexter Parsonage provides keen visitors an insight into the life of Martin Luther King, complete with documentaries and discussion groups on King’s family and place in the community. Finish off your trip with a stop at the gift shop, because everybody loves a little trinket.
