So, you’ve submitted your Esta application, you’ve booked your flights and you’re looking forward to your Texas holiday. Whilst the guide books will tell you all about some of the many hotspots Austin has to offer, there are some lesser known gems that are worth seeking out if you have the time. We took a closer look at a few of them.
Nature and Science Center
Tucked firmly away in the midst of Zilker Park, the Nature and Science Center has something for all the family. With interactive exhibits and activities for the kids, there are also regularly held special events including the Nature Day as well as the Fall Festival. Visitors to the center are welcome to walk around and take a look at the rescue animals. From rare birds of prey, to bobcats and raccoons, there is plenty to learn about the wealth of creatures that call Texas their home.
Although plenty of tourists will be heading to the well-known Hamilton Pools, just down the road you’ll find plenty of hidden gems at Westcave Preserve. Guided nature walks are available and you can learn about some of the local flora and geology, and to top it all off, there’s a grotto with a 40 foot waterfall which cascades down to an emerald pool.
If you’re looking to enjoy something a bit different, you should head to Perplexium. Although Austin has plenty of escape rooms on offer, Perplexium, which is located in North Austin, is probably the most fun. Due to the fact Perplexium has less escape rooms on offer than some of the alternatives, it has enabled the staff to focus on creating a truly immersive and interactive experience. Overall it’s hugely impressive and the experience is both fun and challenging at the same time. Ideal if you’re heading on holiday in a group, but even if you’re heading to Austin as a couple, you can team up with strangers to plot your escape.
To ensure your journey to Austin goes off without a hitch, you’ll need to complete an ESTA registration. Head to our homepage to complete one.
