WWE – then known as WWF – launched Wrestlemania back in March 1985. It’s since become one of the biggest entertainment extravaganzas in the entire calendar. In 2018, the 34th edition of the wrestling event will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Anyone thinking about buying a ticket and starting the ESTA application will probably already know all about Wrestlemania. But if it’s all new to you, here’s a guide to why it’s become so wildly popular.
It features celebrities
The muscle-bound wrestlers are generally joined in the ring by some of the hottest names in Hollywood. In the past, the likes of Kim Kardashian, Pamela Anderson, Snooki and Mickey Rourke have all appeared during the broadcast. Current President of the United States Donald Trump was also heavily featured during Wrestlemania 23 in 2007. You really never know who will turn up!
The location changes
The event isn’t held in the same place every year, meaning fans can always taste a different slice of North America. The most recent editions have taken place in Florida, Texas and California. Over the years, states such as New York, Georgia, Arizona and Washington have also welcomed the show. The changing locations mean that you can experience a different local culture each time you go.
Back in the early 2000s, Wrestlemania tended to take place in modestly sized arenas. In fact, as recently as 2006, just 17,000 fans were lucky enough to experience the spectacle at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. In comparison, Wrestlemania 32 in 2016 entertained a massive 101,000 fans at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Meanwhile, the 2018 instalment is already predicted to achieve an attendance of around 80,000 people.
Is Wrestlemania for you?
There are plenty of reasons to be intrigued by the prospect of buying a ticket to next year’s Wrestlemania. However, you must get your priorities in order first. Before you jump in feet first, make sure that you are eligible for an ESTA visa. This will mean that you’re free to enter the United States and enjoy the once in a lifetime event.
